Gus the J&S Bus Rolls Into the Big Easy By Kathy Parks
Gus the J&S Bus was on display at the 85th annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference held in New Orleans October 2012. The bus is 45-long and an attention getter for the J&S Valve exhibition booth.
October had Gus the J & S Bus setting his GPS for New Orleans, Louisiana where he and his friends from J & S Valve attended the annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC).
On special occasions such as this, Gus is allowed to park inside the convention center where he stands ready to welcome the more than 17,000 visitors and participants anxious to learn the latest in industry innovation.
Gus is a decked-out forty-five foot bus with all the amenities to make him a fully functioning mobile office. A real crowd pleaser, Gus serves as a backdrop for the J & S Valve exhibition booth and is available for walkthroughs throughout his visits.
While at trade shows, Gus stands ready to serve as an ad hoc conference room for any spur of the moment meetings with old friends or prospective clients and when on the road, Gus allows J & S staff members to stay in touch with multiple offices and with clients across the country. J & S Valve has a provider and sales facility in Huffman, Texas just outside of Houston, and a warehouse and sales facility in Ennis, Texas just outside of Dallas. Both locations serve a national and international community of valve distributors and end users and meeting inside the bus helps hold it all together.
Outside the bus in the exhibition hall, sales staff members from J & S Valve highlight the features of some of the toughest valves in production today. The company’s Resilient Seated Solid Wedge Gate Valve, C509 and C515, for example, feature the superior ductile iron able to stand up to 65,000 psi with the added assurance of 12% elongation. Their tough core stems are made of stainless steel and their washers are metal rather than plastic. It looks like “tough” runs in the family for Gus! The valves also feature EPDM rubber components and fusion bonded epoxy coatings inside and out.
With the added assurance that they are able to get the best valve for the job, visitors to this exhibit were worry free and ready to indulge in a little Cajun cuisine, live jazz and a visit to the museum and art district or the night life on Bourbon Street. Swinging down to the French Quarter for “all that jazz” is all in a day’s work for Gus the J & S bus.
Gus serves as a fully functional mobile office at the trade shows and while traveling across the country to visit clients. The bus offers privacy and convenience for spur of the moment business meetings.
